Help me help Indigenous families, and abandonded and abused children in Guatemala

Hi all,

When I found out that in Guatemala more than 50% of indigneous children are suffering malnutrition, and public schooling often not available or affordable after 5th grade I felt the need to do something to help out.

After learning about how it is near impossible for the young people in rural areas to build self sufficient futures, and how they leave for other countries out of desperation, I reflected on the education I have and all that it has provided for me.

For abandoned children, school is completely out of reach so that is why I created a fundraiser to support Guatemala Aid Fund. They help support the successful Fatima Children's home in Guatemala City that has been changing the futures of children for more than 15 years. They are now expanding their health, education, psychological and family support to the more rural region of Solola Guatemala.

The new home we are raising money for right now, is part of a long term community supported program that will enable families to stay together, children to access health and education, and creat productive lives in their own beautiful country.

This Guatemalan-run and community supported program focuses on changing existing patterns... not just maintaining the exising problems!

The new home school is based on education, and sustainable practices that will support not just the school, but employ the local workforce, boost the local economy, result in land preservation and protection of indigenous culture and language.—and you can be a part of it.
